Alba Briones is a Spanish lawyer specialised in arbitration.

Experience in arbitration

Since 2009 Alba Briones has been working in a team with Juan Fernández-Armesto, founding partner of Armesto & Asociados, in more than 10 arbitration proceedings, including domestic and international, ad hoc and administrative arbitrations and involving commercial, as well as construction and investment disputes.

Most of the international commercial cases were administered by the ICC, whilst other arbitrations were conducted under the rules of the LCIA. As regards international commercial ad hoc arbitrations, most of them were subject to the UNCITRAL Rules. Alba Briones has acted as Secretary to the Arbitral Tribunal.

Her experience in domestic commercial arbitration relates to cases administered by the Madrid Court of Arbitration. Alba Briones has also participated in domestic commercial ad hoc cases subject only to the Spanish Arbitration Act.

Investment disputes were administered by ICSID.

Education

Alba Briones studied at the International Primary School and finished her secondary studies at Liceo Europeo, both in Madrid.

She holds a double degree in Law (2008) and Business Administration (2009), Universidad Pontificia Comillas ICADE, Madrid.

On her last year at University, Alba participated in an exchange program taking her last year at the University of International Business and Economics, Beijing, China.

Alba received a scholarship as collaborating student for the Department of Economics in Universidad Pontificia Comillas during the 2007-2008 academic year.

Alba Briones received a scholarship to study introduction to Chinese Law at the China EU School of Law, Beijing, China in 2010.
